	We would like to welcome you to the Inn on Poplar Hill. Opening the Inn was a dream we shared for many years. In 1991 while staying at our first B&B, The Chester House in Front Royal, Virginia. Lounging in the hammock we dreamed of one day owning our own small piece of paradise. Over the next ten years we tried to escape the demands of careers and kids by stealing away to different B&B's several times a year. We were very fortunate to stay at some wonderful small Inn's and B&B's. We took notes and continued dreaming.... In July of 2002 we purchased the house on Poplar Hill and the adjoining 28 acres. Our dream is to create a unique bed & breakfast focused on providing guests with a chance to escape the pressures of daily life, relax in a comfortable country setting and enjoying a truly memorable culinary experience.
	Renovations on the Inn began immediately, with friends and family generously pitching in. There were walls to be taken down, old carpet to be removed and hardwood floors to be polished, custom curtains and bed covering to be completed. Most importantly bathrooms needed to be updated to provide a truly romantic and relaxing experience. On February 14th, 2003, (15 years to the day of our first meeting) The Inn on Poplar Hill officially opened. At the time we had three rooms and two baths. Today we have six rooms all with private baths. This past winter we expanded our walking trails. Although there remains a long list of improvements to be made, we look forward to providing our guest with outstanding service, exceptional cuisine and a truly memorable experience.
	Bear our flat coat retriever joined the family from the Charlottesville SPCA in June of 2003. Molly our Saint Bernard adopted us in July of 2005. Both are guest friendly. Bear is happy to take guests on a guided tour to the pond. Molly usually prefers to take a nap.
	Cookie the newest addition to the family to a Newfoundland Puppy. But she is growing fast, so she won't be the littlest of the group for long.
	Thomas our friendliest cat makes her self at home on the front porch. She loves to curl up on your lap for a nap. Sequoia and Sweet Pea our other cats are a bit shy. But may make a quick appearance. To minimize problems with pet allergies our four legged friends stay outside or in our family quarters. But you are welcome to visit with them. outside.
	We maintain over 3 miles of walking trails on our 28 acres. We recommend that you bring good walking shoes. So that you can enjoy the abundance of wildlife and nature.
